Tarzie's

The bar owner, who started working in Nakanomachi in her 20s and dreamed of having her own bar in the area, always welcomes you with a charming smile. Tarzie was a nickname given to Tazuko, the owner, in childhood. One of the highlights of this bar is the owner’s complete collection of awamori from all 48 distilleries in Okinawa on a wall behind the bar. Tazuko is a licensed awamori master. She has at least one awamori from each of the 48 distilleries as she felt that “anyone at any time should be able to drink awamori from their hometown.” Even if you are trying awamori for the first time, just tell Tazuko about your particular tastes and she will find the right label for you. She will also serve you small selections of food to go with each awamori. As Tazuko is also a writer, theatrical performers and showbiz regulars frequent the bar. If you’re lucky, you may be able to hear some very interesting stories about Koza’s culture.
