Tunugi made their debut in the world of Okinawan traditional folk music bars in 2008. Run by Tatsuya Shimbukuro, you can enjoy Okinawan food and great entertainment here.
Located in Okinawa City’s Moromizato, Tunugi looks like a stylish bar, but still gives off that “Okinawan” vibe. Not only can you enjoy Mr. Shimabukuro’s live performances, but the payment system is simple and straightforward like any other izakaya bar, making it easy for “minyo bar newbies” to enter and enjoy the world of live Okinawan entertainment. The performances are centered around the sanshin and drums, but the bass and drum set occasionally joins in to mix things up.
They’re open until 2:00 in the morning, so how about a night out in Koza with some traditional Okinawan music?
